FSP Amendment Text:
March 1, 2010: The South Okanagan Similkameen Forest Stewardship Plan is proposed to be amended as follows:
The pertinent portion of the current FSP reads as follows:
Result/Strategy for Section 4.1.1 – Old Growth:
Pennask FDU Only:
Where and FSP Holder plans to harvest an area that exceeds 10 hectares or 10% of the a mapped OGMA polygon, that FSP Holder will, prior to Cutting Permit application, identify a “replacement” OGMA that:
- is of equivalent or larger area as the ‘proposed OGMA harvest area’;
- is within the same landscape unit, biogeoclimatic zone, subzone and variant as the proposed OGMA harvest area, and
- has forest cover attributes that are equal to or better than the proposed OGMA harvest area with respect age class and species composition
The proposed amendment would make this Result/Strategy applicable to the Chute Lake and Olalla Forest Development Units by changing the line “Pennask FDU Only” to “Pennask, Chute Lake and Ollalla FDUs” as per the FDU Maps on the “Forest Planning” page of the Gorman Bros. website.
